Jennette’s Pier in Nags Head N.C. is a perfect place for an Outer Banks beach wedding. On June 27th, families and friends of Christine Kahlke and Ryan Willing converged on the second floor of the pier house to witness and celebrate their wedding. The weather wasn’t perfect that day, but luckily, the space inside the reception hall was more than adequate for the nearly 150 guests. The ceremony was officiated by the bride’s brother, while Rachel Moser with Glam and Lace Weddings made sure everything flowed as planned. Once the newlyweds were announced they were whisked off by Douglas Haber, the wedding photographer with Outer Banks Productions, to get the photos that would remind them of this amazing evening for years to come.
The banquet is an essential part of many weddings, this one being no exception. The bride’s father spoke before dinner to welcome everyone and congratulate the newlyweds. Mulligans provided the dinner service with two identical buffets in order to efficiently satiate the guests’ appetites. That was great for me, because I knew the dance party would start on time.
The Best Man and Maid of Honor spoke some words of encouragement before the bride and groom were invited up to the cake table to cut their wedding PIE! Key lime pies and donuts took the place of the traditional wedding cake, just one of the many ways that this bride and groom made their special day their own.
The dance party started early and went on late into the evening; that is how we like it! As an Outer Banks Wedding DJ we love to have people out on the dance floor and moving to the music. These revelers were enthusiastic, and all clearly enjoyed all of the bride and groom’s music requests. Guests young and old enjoyed tunes spanning more than seven decades! I had a blast right along with them, and I am sure I felt the pier moving with the rhythm of the beat.
