Over 30 years ago Coastal DJ & Video’s founder, George Wainwright, discovered a genuine love of entertaining which is shared by every single member of the team on staff today. We are proud to not only play songs but work with vendors, make necessary announcements, and do everything we can to create unforgettable events all across the North Carolina coast and beyond.
There’s much more to being a successful DJ than playing cool songs. George Wainwright
Founder & Lead DJ – Coastal DJ & Video
George Wainwright began his DJ career in 1989, shortly after graduating high school, turning an early passion for music into a lifelong profession. His journey started behind the scenes at a local nightclub, working lights and sound alongside a close friend—an experience that quickly evolved into learning how to DJ, spin records, and confidently emcee live events.
Throughout the early 1990s, George continued honing his craft in the coastal towns of North Carolina while studying radio broadcasting through a local station. His growing skill set led him to a prominent nightclub in Raleigh, NC, where he worked closely with regional cover bands and shared the stage with nationally recognized acts including Mötley Crüe, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Molly Hatchet, The Smithereens, Clarence Carter, and many others. These formative years sharpened his ability to read crowds, manage high-energy environments, and command a microphone with confidence.
In the late 1990s, George briefly stepped away from the entertainment industry to pursue a career in real estate and timeshare sales in South Carolina. However, his passion for DJing never faded. By the early 2000s, he had returned to music full-time, expanding into private events such as birthdays, school dances, corporate functions, and ultimately, weddings.
In 2012, George founded Coastal DJ & Video with a clear vision: to provide professional, polished, and reliable entertainment for weddings and private events throughout the Carolinas. Today, the company proudly employs over 10 professional DJs, performing nearly every weekend at weddings and private events throughout Eastern North Carolina, including Morehead City, Beaufort, Atlantic Beach, Emerald Isle, and the surrounding Crystal Coast, as well as the Outer Banks and Wilmington, North Carolina.
George’s musical foundation was shaped early in life, growing up on a diverse mix of disco, Motown, and classic rock, influences that continue to inform his versatile and well-rounded DJ style. Years spent in clubs, bars, and live music venues gave him an in-depth understanding of music across generations, while his early emcee experience laid the groundwork for the clear, confident announcements essential to a well-executed wedding reception.
When he’s not behind the decks, George enjoys spending time with his family, exploring historic downtown areas, discovering new places, and creating curated playlists and mixes—always staying connected to the music that started it all.
How I Train All DJs:
- I train my DJs now under the same elements and rule as I received when I started out as a DJ. Helping each new DJ learn the gear and how to operate each piece of equipment first.
- Working with each DJ to help them learn the different genres of music and what to play during each part of the event.
- Showing DJs how to effectively beat mix music to make each transition of songs seamless and impactful.
- Learning how to use and speak on a microphone properly.
- How to interact with clients before, during, and after each event.
- How to work with other vendors to ensure they love working with us and continue to refer to our company.

Adrian Shaw
With more than 20 years of professional DJ experience, Adrian Shaw brings energy, confidence, and an exceptional connection with his audience to every event he performs. He began DJing in 1992 and already had a well-established career before joining the Coastal DJ & Video family in 2011.
Adrian’s passion for entertainment extends beyond the DJ booth. His background includes work in radio and television, experiences that helped shape his strong on-microphone presence and polished delivery. Performing in front of a live audience is where Adrian truly shines—his engaging personality, clear speaking voice, and natural ability to connect with guests consistently keep dance floors full and events running smoothly.
Throughout his career, Adrian has DJed everything from intimate backyard gatherings to arena-sized events, and he has opened for numerous national recording artists. His musical knowledge is impressively diverse, spanning ’70s classics and Motown through today’s Top 40 and current dance hits. Just as important, Adrian understands when to play the right music, carefully building energy throughout each phase of an event for a seamless and exciting flow.
As a wedding DJ, Adrian is known for being friendly, detail-oriented, and client-focused. When he’s performing a wedding, his attention remains squarely on the bride and groom—ensuring they feel relaxed, confident, and fully present on their special day. His calm demeanor, flexibility, and commitment to excellent customer service make him a favorite among couples and fellow wedding professionals alike.

Matt Chambers
DJ Matt Chambers brings a versatile, modern approach to every event, fueled by a lifelong appreciation for all genres of music and a deep respect for the craft of DJing. His journey into music began in earnest during his second tour overseas in 2007–2008, where he learned the fundamentals of DJing from a close friend—an experience that sparked a lasting passion.
After returning home, Matt invested in his first DJ controller in 2013, dedicating countless hours to mastering the basics and refining his skills. His commitment quickly paid off. In September 2014, he earned his first DJ residency as a college bar DJ in Williamsburg, Virginia, later expanding to venues in Richmond, Newport News, and Virginia Beach. Performing for a wide range of audiences helped Matt become a true open-format DJ, known for his ability to read a dance floor and adapt seamlessly to different crowds and age groups.
Always eager to grow, Matt continued developing his skill set by teaching himself karaoke hosting, video DJing, professional MCing, and trivia hosting, making him a flexible and well-rounded entertainer for all types of events.
In 2018, Matt shifted his primary focus to weddings, school events, and private celebrations. Since then, he has DJed everything from pool parties and corporate events to school dances and over 40 weddings, earning a reputation for being both professional and genuinely fun to work with.
Matt takes great pride in being part of a couple’s wedding day and approaches every event with the same mindset: treat it as a once-in-a-lifetime celebration. Known for going above and beyond, he brings positive energy, attention to detail, and a commitment to creating unforgettable experiences for every client and guest.

Kyle Steele
DJ Kyle Steele
Kyle “Kes” Steele, better known by his stage name DJ Steele, is a dynamic and versatile artist hailing from Rochester, NY. Initially making his mark as a hip hop emcee and gifted lyricist, he captivated audiences across Rochester and upstate New York, showcasing his lyrical prowess in dozens of venues.
Sammy Figgs
Originally from New Jersey, DJ Sammy Figgs began developing his craft at just 15 years old, spinning records on a mixer and turntables at backyard parties for friends and neighbors. What started as a passion quickly turned into a calling, carrying him through high school and into college, where his love for music and performance continued to grow.
While attending Rutgers University, Sammy became deeply involved in the radio scene, serving for several years as the Monday Night Hip Hop DJ, while also performing at numerous live events through various DJ coalitions. During this time, he gained valuable industry experience by interning with Sony Music, working within the professional music circuit and sharpening his understanding of music selection, timing, and crowd engagement.
After returning to New Jersey, Sammy expanded into the wedding and private event industry, performing for couples and audiences from a wide range of cultural backgrounds. His ability to blend genres seamlessly and connect with diverse crowds quickly set him apart as a versatile and in-demand DJ.
In 2011, Sammy relocated to North Carolina to continue pursuing his DJ career, becoming one of Wilmington’s best-kept secrets. He joined the Coastal DJ & Video team in 2018, where his talent, professionalism, and adaptability made an immediate impact. In addition to weddings and private events, Sammy has flourished as a mixshow DJ in rotation on Coast 97.3, further solidifying his reputation within the local music scene.
With deep roots in turntablism, radio, and live performance, DJ Sammy Figgs brings a refined yet energetic style to every event—delivering packed dance floors, smooth transitions, and an unforgettable experience for couples and their guests.
Leroy Bunting
DJ Leroy Bunting is a professional DJ with a sharp musical intellect and a finely tuned ear, bringing thoughtful song selection and seamless transitions to every event he performs. His musical inspiration spans decades—rooted in ’80s pop and rock, ’70s soul and disco, and hip hop, while comfortably reaching back to the classics of the 1950s and beyond.
Born and raised in Wilmington, North Carolina, Leroy began DJing professionally in 2020 and quickly distinguished himself through dedication and discipline. From the very beginning, he committed himself to practicing **daily—often for hours at a time—**to refine his technique and master the art of reading a crowd. That work ethic is evident in his smooth blends, polished delivery, and ability to curate a musical experience that resonates with guests of every age.

Nogui Aramburo
DJ Nogui Aramburo brings a rare combination of cultural depth, musical sophistication, and high-energy performance to every wedding and private event. Born in Jamaica, Queens and raised in Miami, Nogui was immersed in music from an early age. He is the son of an acclaimed music professor at the Institute of Popular Culture and Dance, whose academic background includes a Master’s degree from the Conservatory of Music in Cali, Colombia—a foundation that deeply influenced Nogui’s musical upbringing.
Growing up in Miami during the city’s dance-music renaissance, Nogui was shaped by the sounds of Freestyle, Miami Bass, Hip-Hop, and House music of the 1980s, developing a keen ear for rhythm, groove, and dance-floor energy. That early exposure continues to define his DJ style today.
With an exceptional ability to read a room, Nogui creates an atmosphere that keeps the dance floor energized all night long. His musical range is vast and intentional—effortlessly blending artists like Al Green, Daft Punk, and Pharrell, while drawing from decades of music including Beach Music, Motown, Disco, Big Band, Swing, Blues, Country, ’80s, ’90s, 2000s hits, and Latin music.
A Latin-native DJ who is fluent in both Spanish and English, Nogui is highly experienced in DJing American weddings as well as multicultural celebrations. He works closely with each couple to determine the right mood, flow, and playlist for their wedding day, ensuring every moment feels intentional and personal.

Wyatt Hill
Originally from Port Hueneme, California, DJ Wyatt Hill began his career in the music industry in 2002, working behind the scenes by renting professional DJ equipment to clubs, radio stations, and fellow DJs throughout Ventura County, CA. This early exposure gave him a strong technical foundation and a deep understanding of professional sound and event production.
In 2004, Wyatt joined the United States Navy, a path that took him across the globe. While supporting military operations, he had the opportunity to live and work in incredible locations including Bahrain, Italy, Spain, Greece, and beyond. These international experiences broadened his perspective and shaped his appreciation for diverse cultures, music, and celebrations.
By 2006, Wyatt found himself in Washington, D.C., where he began DJing weddings—and immediately discovered a true passion for them. He quickly fell in love with the structure, emotion, and responsibility that come with wedding celebrations, taking pride in helping couples create meaningful, well-executed, and unforgettable days.
After years of experience, Wyatt and his wife chose to move closer to family, returning to California in 2017. In 2024, they felt the pull of the East Coast once again and settled in Jacksonville, North Carolina, where Wyatt continues to bring his refined approach to weddings throughout the region.
Wyatt’s DJ style is shaped by his world travel, disciplined professionalism, and commitment to excellence. He has intentionally sought out some of the best training in the wedding industry, focusing on polished MC skills, seamless event flow, and the details that separate a good wedding from a great one. When he’s not performing, Wyatt enjoys spending time with his wife and their dog, Zara, and continues to indulge his love for travel whenever possible.

Patrick Pake
With more than 25 years of professional DJ and MC experience, Patrick Pake brings an unmatched level of expertise, polish, and energy to every event he performs. His career began DJing college events and nightclubs in Raleigh, North Carolina, eventually leading him to own and operate one of the largest DJ companies in the state.
Patrick’s influence reaches far beyond weddings. He is internationally recognized for producing and remixing music for major recording artists including Vanilla Ice, Kid Rock, and Vanessa Williams. His corporate résumé includes DJing and emceeing large-scale events throughout the Eastern United States for nationally recognized brands such as PNC Bank, Coca-Cola, and more.
As a seasoned wedding DJ, Patrick has personally performed at over 1,500 weddings, earning a reputation for professionalism, crowd awareness, and seamless event flow. Known as a confident yet approachable master of ceremonies, he has a natural ability to read a room, energize a dance floor, and keep events running smoothly from the first announcement to the final song.
Patrick often says his secret is simple: he treats every bride like she’s his only sister. That mindset shows in his attention to detail, calm presence, and commitment to delivering a stress-free, unforgettable experience.
Outside of weddings, Patrick owns and operates a professional audio-visual production company, giving him expert-level knowledge of sound, acoustics, and room design—ensuring every venue sounds as good as it looks.
A proud Carteret County local, Patrick spends his Sundays on the water when he’s not behind the decks, enjoying his favorite music and the coastal lifestyle he calls home.
Joel Foy
Originally from the Bronx, New York, DJ Jo’el Foy relocated to the Carolinas to be closer to family and quickly found a home in the Wilmington, North Carolina area. Since settling there, he has become one of the most requested DJs in the local community, known for his musical depth, versatility, and genuine connection with guests.
Music has been central to Jo’el’s life from an early age. He began as a musician, playing his father’s keyboard and later studying violin and cello, developing a strong foundation in music theory and performance. That early training continues to influence his DJ style, allowing him to approach events with a musician’s ear and an entertainer’s instincts.
Jo’el attended East Carolina University on a double scholarship for music education and music composition, and after graduating, he transitioned directly into performing live music for weddings and private events. His formal training gives him a unique advantage as a DJ—understanding not just what sounds good, but why it works.
His DJ career began unexpectedly while helping a friend with karaoke, but that moment quickly led to a professional path. Since then, Jo’el has DJed hundreds of events, performing throughout the Carolinas and into South Florida, entertaining crowds of every age and background.
Known for his ability to mix all genres of music with ease, Jo’el brings energy, positivity, and precision to every event. Above all, he loves working with people and takes pride in delivering a memorable experience. As Jo’el puts it, “There’s not much that makes me happier than a job well done.”
