The Kitty Hawk Pier was the host for the Wedding Ceremony and Reception for Beth Trapani and Derrick Smutek last Saturday, June 14th on the Outer Banks. Coastal DJ and Video was there to provide the ceremony music and the entertainment for the subsequent reception on the pier. This is DJ Karl to fill you in on the details from that festive evening.

Beth and Derrick invited friends and family to join them on the beach to witness their vows. As they gathered I welcomed them with island and beach music. Beth approached the altar to the sounds of Colby Caillat “I do.” After the ceremony once the business was complete, there were cheers as they were announced as newlyweds, and I played “I Choose You” by Sara Bareilles for the recessional.
As Beth and Derrick were whisked away by the photographers, I invited the guests up to the pier house for cocktail hour. There I entertained them with festive music by Zac Brown Band and Kenny Chesney and other similar artists until the newlyweds and their parents were ready to be announced. I Introduced the newlywed couple and their parents to Michael Franti and Spearhead “Say Hey, (I love you).” Beth and Derrick then celebrated their very first dance to “All of Me” by John Legend.

Dinner music was hand selected by Beth and Derrick and I played all of their requests for them and their guests as they enjoyed their banquet. Once again, the photographers whisked them away to get those perfect wedding photos at around sunset. Once they were back we got the dance party going after the traditional Father and Bride and Mother and Groom Dances. The dance party was full of very special moments and brought everyone from both families together in fun and festivity. It was a pleasure to be part of such a memorable evening for the Trapani and Smutek families. Thank you for having us, and best of luck to newlyweds Beth and Derrick!
