Ginny and Stephens ceremony & reception was held on a beautiful Saturday at the Rock Springs Center which is one of the nicest reception venues in all of eastern North Carolina. I absolutely love doing receptions in this gorgeous atmosphere filled with nothing but the nicest of everything. From the marble floors, to the art and architecture, this place is simply amazing.
The day started with a nice ceremony that took place on the inside of the venue with chairs lined up all through the room seating over 300 family members and guests. Between Paul Christianson (soloist) and R.W. Hobbs as the pianist, the music could not have been better. We witnessed the emotion and excitement that poured through the room as Ginny and Stephen were married.
After the ceremony, the staff at Rock Springs Center did a great job as always making sure the food and drinks were ready for guests as they made their way into the next room for cocktail hour. The wedding party was lined up and we introduced everyone into the room to one of my all time favorites from the great 80’s, “Eye of the tiger” by Survivor. Then came the introduction song for the bride and groom to one of the best new hits, “I gotta feeling” by The Black Eyed Peas (wedding favorite). Ginny and Stephen did their first dance to “When you say nothing at all” by Alison Kraus. Then came the Father/Daughter dance that was done to “The way you look tonight” by Frank Sinatra – a classic (great choice). Finally the traditional Mother/Son dance between Stephen and his mother to “Dream a little dream of me” by Ella Fitzgerald. We did a blessing of the food, the hot stations were then open, and away we go with dinner. We continued playing the music requested by Ginny and Stephen that consisted of some country like Kenny Chesney “How forever feels” and Keith Urban “Making memories” Zac Brown “Whatever it is” then motown hits like Detroit Spinners “Could it be I’m falling in love” to The Four Tops “Ain’t no woman like the one I got”. Toasts were given after dinner by the Father of the bride, best man, then maid of honor by the cake table in which I might add had an incredible looking cake.
Finally after toasts and cake we were ready to get things cranked up on the dance floor for all the guests and family that filled this amazing room. We started off with a beach classic that was requested by the bride The Platters “With this ring” and ran a few beach tunes till it was time for some top 40 energy. The cupid shuffle always seems to get people on the floor, so we rocked it and then went to some newer hits like The Black Eyed Peas “The Time” (dirty bit), then of course a few disco jams like KC & The Sunshine Band “Boogie Shoes” Michael Jackson “Billie Jean” on to more…….Journey “Don’t stop believin”, Bon Jovi “You give love a bad name”.
Closing out a great night, we then set up things on the dance floor for the traditional bouquet and garter toss. Ginny grabbed her beautiful bouquet and made her toss to The Commodores “Brick House” (all time favorite) while Stephen looked as if he had planned a special dance for his new wife while removing the garter (Lol). Stephen and all of his groomsmen lined up to Queen “Another one bites the dust” that was used for the Garter toss. The last dance took place as people were leaving to do the sparkler send off towards the front of entrance and we played Kenny Chesney “She thinks my tractors sexy”.
This was truly a flawless wedding that had me seriously ready to play another couple of hours. Most of all, we would like to thank Ginny and Stephen for letting us be a part of their wedding. Congratulations to the new Mr. and Mrs. Stephen Craig Lilly Jr. We can’t wait to see some of the great photos that will be coming soon!
