It was an honor to DJ Jennifer and Ivan’s beautiful wedding at The Sanderling Resort on March 16th. As always I was excited to be working with Debbie and all the staff from The Sanderling Resort as well. I also had the pleasure of working with Sarah Fitzgibbons from Sarah Joann Photography, and Shirley Cook from Sugar Snap Events.

The Wedding Ceremony

The ceremony was held on the observation deck next to the great lawn at the Sanderling Resort. We played various Vitamin String Quartet songs for the pre-seating and processional music. Jennifer and Ivan’s daughter, Sonya, came down the isle to “A Thousand Years” by The Piano Guys. We continued this same song and then transitioned into a classic piano version of “Here comes the bride” for Jennifer’s processional. The ceremony was great and the weather couldn’t have been more perfect for an Outer Banks Wedding.

Introductions & First Dances

Guests made their way over the Pavilion for cocktail hour while Sarah Fitzgibbons took Jennifer and Ivan for pictures. When it was time for introductions, Debbie got everyone lined up and we played “I gotta feeling” by the Black Eyed Peas. We played the song out so that the kids could dance with their parents before sitting at their tables. Jennifer and Ivan’s first dance was “Thinking out loud” by Ed Sheeran. The father/daughter dance was to “I loved her first” by Heartland.

Dinner, Toasts, and Cake

After the special dances there was a welcome given by Jennifer’s father followed by a blessing given by Ivan’s parents. The staff brought out the food and everyone enjoyed an excellent meal while listening to slow classics and a few contemporary hits. Sunset photos were taken as dinner winded down followed by toasts that were given by Michelle Taylor and Ryan Whited, childhood friends of both Jennifer and Ivan. When the toasts were complete we did a quick cake cutting and played a few songs to begin the dancing.

The Dancing

One of the biggest highlights of the night was when Sonya opened up the floor by singing “A Thousand Years” by Christina Perry to Jennifer. Everyone LOVED it! We then continued playing a mix of some great 80’s dance, 90’s R&B, and all the best new Top 40 Dance to keep everyone on the dance floor. This crowd didn’t stop dancing the entire night. The very last dance of the night was to one of my all time favorites, “Don’t Stop Believin” by Journey. What a fun night with great people. Thank you Jennifer and Ivan for everything. It was a pleasure to be a part of your special day! Thanks for choosing Coastal DJ & Video for your entertainment.
